1. Overview

MeterLah ("the App") is developed and maintained by donotknock ("I", "me", or "my") as an independent, solo developer. I respect your personal privacy. This Privacy Policy outlines how the App handles your data. MeterLah is built intentionally as an offline, privacy-first utility: I do not collect, monitor, or profit from your personal data.

2. Device Permissions

To perform its core functions as a digital trip meter, the App requests two permissions on your device:

  • Precise Location: The App accesses your device’s GPS solely to calculate travel distance, track speed, and generate your trip route. This location data is processed locally in real time only while you are actively tracking a ride.
  • Notifications: The App displays a persistent notification while a trip is actively running. This is an Android operating system requirement to ensure background location tracking remains active when your screen is turned off or when you switch apps.

3. Storage and Data Retention

  • Local to Your Device: All data generated by the App—including trip history, calculated fares, timestamps, and route coordinates—is saved directly to your device’s local internal storage.
  • No Remote Servers or Tracking: I do not operate external servers, remote databases, or cloud analytics services for this app. Your trip data never leaves your phone, and I have no access to your route history or location.
  • Deletion: Because all data is stored locally on your device, deleting individual trips in the App, clearing the App’s cache/data in Android Settings, or uninstalling the App will permanently erase all your saved trip data.

4. Third-Party Services

To display map visuals on generated trip receipts, the App fetches map tiles from CARTO. When the App displays a map preview, your device sends a standard network request to CARTO's servers to retrieve the appropriate background visual tiles. No personal information, user accounts, or specific trip histories are shared with CARTO.

5. Changes to This Policy

I may update this Privacy Policy if the App’s features evolve. Any updates will be posted directly to this page with a revised "Effective Date."
